 To Prep Candy Counting Puzzles

  1. Print the freebie on cardstock for durability.
  2. Laminate, especially if you want to use these games for long periods of time or pull them out each year.
  3. Cut apart each puzzle.
Pro tip: If you are creating multiple sets of these puzzles to use in a classroom, try putting the same color dot or sticker on the back of all the pieces and then on the bag or box they are stored in. That way if a piece gets left behind, it is easy to see which set it belongs to.

Playing with Candy Counting Puzzles

To play with these puzzles, set the pieces out and have your students practice matching the number to the candy jar that holds the same amount of candy. The puzzles have different types of lines that divide them in half to help support early learners who might struggle with the counting part of this activity.

These puzzles go up to 20, but you could pull out just the numbers you want your students to work on. These would be fun in a Halloween or candy themed sensory bin where students have to dig around for the pieces and then find matches.
