Catholic Resources for Kids in Spanish

Creating Catholic resources for kids has been my passion for years, but I've always created them in English, as that is my primary language. I get requests to translate them to all different languages, but the one I get repeatedly is to translate my Catholic Resources for Kids into Spanish.

Last winter, we were in Florida on vacation. While looking up Mass times, we found church after church with Spanish Masses. This is not common at all where I'm from, which is part of why I didn't initially think to translate my resources. But as I realized there were many Spanish Catholic communities out there even beyond where we were in Florida, I got four different requests that week in my inbox for resources to be translated to Spanish. I took it as a sign that I needed to find a native Spanish speaker who was Catholic and was willing to start translating my Catholic resources.

Spanish Confession Lapbook

The Confession Lapbook was designed to prepare students for their First Reconciliation, but can be used anytime they go to confession. It includes a mini flip book for preparing for confession including a scripture passage, the Ten Commandments and a kid friendly examination of conscience. Then students can choose the picture that most represents how the sacrament looks at their church (in a confessional, out of a confessional, behind a screen, face to face, etc.) This is a visual reminder of the steps of the sacrament. 

There is also a mini book to help with what to say during the confession - a rough guide of what you say and what the priest says, the Act of Contrition (with several options) and even a little pocket to hold a notecard or piece of paper if students want to write down their sins, so they don't forget what to say in the moment.

Spanish Catholic Lent Lapbook

This Spanish Lent Lapbook is designed to help children countdown to Easter in a meaningful way. The lapbook includes a mini flip book for Ash Wednesday and their Lenten Promise (prayer, almsgiving and fasting) as well as a pocket with mini cards for the Stations of the Cross. These could be referred to throughout the whole Lenten season. There are also four mini books that have students read scripture and respond on the topics of Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter. There are also two levels available for the scripture portion so that younger students are filling in the blanks and older students are reflecting and writing.

Spanish Catholic Rosary Lapbook

Spanish Stations of the Cross Mini Book

This mini book comes with two different styles, an accordion style and a simple cut and staple. Both styles have the same pictures and simple sentence depicting the Stations of the Cross. This devotion is used commonly during Lent to reflect on the last hours of Jesus's life.

Spanish Advent Lapbook 

The Advent Lapbook features saints with feast days during Advent, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, an Advent wreath, the O Antiphons and the Nativity Story. There are different versions included so that older students could use this more as a research project where they need to fill in the information. A version with all the facts included is available for younger students who aren't to the point where they could research and write about what they've learned.
