The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, is celebrated on the last Sunday in Ordinary Time. This feast is sometimes called Solemnity of Christ the King. Celebrate with your students by making these festive crowns and reminding your students that Jesus Christ is truly the king of all things.

Before students create and decorate their crowns, have them color the circle pictures on the second page of the download. The pictures represent some of the things that Jesus is the King of – individuals, families, communities, nations, the universe.

Once the circle pictures are colored, have students cut them out. Then they will match them to the words on the crown. If you want, they can just glue the picture right on top of the words. They could also just glue the top of the circle so that the picture could be lifted like a flap so students can still reference the word and the picture.

After the circle pictures are matched and glued, it is time to color and decorate.

Once the decorating is done, cut out the crown. Punch a hole on each side of the crown (there will be a circle to show you exactly where to punch.) Use yarn or elastic to tie through the hole. To make it easier so that you don’t have to measure the exact size for each student, use two pieces of yarn, one on each side and then tie it around your student’s head. That should ensure that the crown fits each student, but is still easy to take off.
