So I set the bar kind of high last year when I made our
Make a Troll Kits as my daughter's birthday party gifts. She assumed this was the perfect "treat" to take to school this year in kindergarten. Her school requires a non food treat so this definitely fit the bill, but I wasn't planning on making 28 fine motor kits this year. To top it off, she wanted me to make a superhero version for the boys in her class. I got my brain thinking of how we could switch our troll version to a superhero version. I've got the supplies, directions and bag toppers for you today!!
Supplies Needed for Superhero Kits
We ordered our playdough from Amazon and found the rest of our supplies at the Dollar Tree. I'm also linking similar items to Amazon for your convenience.
Prepping and Assembling Superhero Kits
When my daughter first asked me to make a superhero version, my first thought was what am I going to do to make these playdough characters look like superheroes?? I finally decided to use my
Silhouette Cameo (I have the 2 but it is no longer available so I linked the 3), and cut masks and capes out of cardstock. I actually found shapes already available in the Silhouette Studio store. If you are looking for them, the masks are Design ID#1777 and the Capes are Design ID#55326. I put multiple masks and capes on one page and then cut them out on different colors of cardstock.
Next, we went to the Dollar Tree and stocked up on pony beads, stickers, colored googly eyes, sequins and pipe cleaners. We figured they could decorate the capes or use the other supplies directly on the playdough.
I spread everything around our dining room table. My daughter helped me to stuff each bag. She kept saying this is so much fun! Haha, she's easy to please. We didn't have a set amount of items for each bag. We did around 4-6 of each item in each bag.
I left the bags open in case we needed to add more or take out some items at the end.
Once we were done, I took the printable bag toppers, cut them out and folded them in half. Then we sealed the Ziploc bags, and put a topper on top. Then we stapled it twice. Super easy to assemble and look how cute they are!!! We made the superhero version for the boys and the
troll version for the girls.
I love these bags as birthday treats but they could be used in so many different ways. They are great fine motor kits so that little ones can practice picking up the small pieces and pushing them into the playdough.
