Print the winter money match game on cardstock. Laminate for durability and cut the cards apart. It isn't required to laminate, but it will make it last longer so you can use them each year.

How to Play Winter Money Match

You can use these cards in so many different ways. One idea would be to just spread them out and look for the matching cards by counting the coins and then finding the written amount that matches.

Another option would be to play it as a memory game. Shuffle the cards and spread them out face down in neat rows and columns. Take turns turning over two cards at a time. If the amount of coins and the number match, keep those cards and go again. If they don't match, turn them back over and the next person takes their turn. Keep playing until all the cards are matched.

You could also play this game like Go Fish. Each person starts with 5 cards in their hands and the rest of the cards in a pile in the middle. Take turns asking the other players for a match to the cards in your hand (example: Do you have 54 cents?). If the person asked has that (either in coin or number form) they give the other player the card. Set the matches down in front of you and go again. If they do not have the matching card, say go fish, and pick a card from the pile in front. Continue taking turns until all matches have been made.

How else would your use these cards with your students?
