Five For Friday

So this week didn't go like I planned.  I had great plans for unpacking, cleaning up the house, decorating for Valentine's Day, decorating and celebrating my daughter's 3rd birthday, blogging, scrapbooking, creating, getting back into our routine....

None of that happened.  Nada.  Zilch.  Zero.  Instead my daughter had a stomach bug about 2 hours after we got home from vacation on Saturday.  Luckily she was better the next day.  But then Monday it hit me.  Never good when mommy goes down.  And then Tuesday my husband got it.  Really not good when both parents go down.  Luckily the worst of it didn't last long but for days after we had upset stomachs and ate very little.  Not a great week for us.

And we had to take a picture of this because after the fact we found it amusing that my husband and I each spent a night on our bathroom floor.  So gross.  I have never wished my bathroom was clean more than I did that night.  Not fun!!!

Everyone is doing better and we are lucky that the baby didn't get it because that probably would have been the messiest of all.  I just had to let go of my plans for the week and instead we've been doing a lot of laundry, sleeping, relaxing and tv watching.
My oldest turned 3 this week.  Crazy!!  Unfortunately, her birthday was pretty low key since we were sick.  We weren't really planning anything big anyway since we were just getting back from vacation. Luckily, I had ordered her a Fisher Price Disney World toy before we left for vacation so we had a present for her.  And I had cupcakes in the freezer ready to go.  So she was happy and probably didn't know the difference.  She and her sister ate pancakes from the freezer (which is what she chose for her birthday dinner anyway so she didn't mind) and my husband and I had saltines.  She will still have presents and a mini celebration with my family next week but we didn't want to share any germs this week.
Since our week was pretty much being sick, I'll add some vacation pictures for the rest of my 5 for Friday.  Disney World was awesome.  I was expecting more excitement from K but I think the whole experience is pretty overwhelming for a 3 year old.  My normally outgoing child totally shut down when she was near a character, which I half anticipated so we didn't spend time waiting to meet characters.  We rode lots of rides, saw parades, and lasted until the fireworks.  It is definitely a magical place and I think after the fireworks we were all caught up in the magic (thus my bill in the store to buy shirts for everyone.)  It took us forever to get through Main Street and out to the trams.  We didn't get back until after 11.  Way longer day than we were anticipating but awesome way to end the trip.

While we were visiting my husband's grandmother, we got to spend some time at the beach on Anna Marie Island.  It was cold for a beach trip but we didn't care.  The girls were even in the water some (which meant daddy was in the water, not me.)  It was the perfect temperature for light layers and playing in the sand.  It was sunny but not hot.  We also ate dinner on the beach and watched the sunset two different nights.  Not as relaxing with kids, but still one of the best parts about vacationing in Florida!
On a rainy day in Florida, we took the girls to Mote Aquarium.  We had a lot of fun at the Tampa Aquarium the last time we were in Florida, so we thought we would try this one.  Plus with our Detroit Zoo membership, there is a whole list of zoos and aquariums around the country that we can get a discount at and Mote was one of them.  It is definitely  more of a research facility than a show facility but it was fun to see the different displays including manatees and a dolphin.

That's it.  Hoping this weekend is a little more productive than our week has been.  I feel like my to do list is SO long!  Happy Friday and Happy Early Valentine's Day!!
