Five For Friday

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs again this week for Five For Friday.

Here is my randomness for the week...

Finally got to enjoy the first tomatoes from our garden.  There were about 4 more of the cherry tomatoes but K ate them as soon as I said we could pick them.  The one time she eats tomatoes is if they are fresh from the garden.  This yellow version is new to us this year but they are really yummy so far.

I got the chance to finish up some subway art that had been on my to do list.  A friend that I used to teach with ordered these for two weddings she's been invited to this summer/fall.  My new technique of using vinyl, having my Silhouette Cameo machine cut it out and then painting it has been more time consuming but I think I like the results better and I think it will last longer.
So happy that my Math Workshop product is finally updated.  I've had that on my list to do for the past few months so I'm glad I finally got to it this week.  Hopefully it will help other teachers out there to start using math workshop in their classrooms.

Today was my third attempt at Jamberry nails.  I want to love them.  I do.  I love the concept of them.  But so far, they do not love me.  This picture was my first attempt.  I got lots of wrinkles that over the course of a few days felt sharp - like I had a bunch of jagged nails.  So I took them off, tried a different design and some new techniques and it was only mildly better.  I was not giving up.  I've watched some more videos and done some more reading.  Not sure what the problem is but I think part of it could be that my nails are really curved so it is hard to get the nail shields to lay flat.  So this time I tried a few different things...held them with my tweezers not my hands or an orange stick, put them on "cold" as in didn't heat them before I applied them, filed every shield using a downward motion only, and wrapped each finger in a plastic bag before I put the heat on it from the hairdryer.  And the results....well they look A LOT better.  There are a few minor wrinkles but overall it seems better.  We'll see how they look in the morning.

Extra excited for the weekend because my hubby and I are headed out of town for a little overnight getaway to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary.  We aren't going far and we don't have anything major planned but all that matters is I don't have to pack for 4.  I don't need to have a stroller in the car.  I don't need a diaper bag.  Our first time away from the baby but excited to be able to hang out and enjoy a new city - just the two of us!

Have a great weekend!
